Folkert, Ken, Simon, Wayne and me showed up last Thursday. We had a great time in Cafe Corridor @ Causeway Bay. In the meetup, we chatted about the latest iPhone landscape and some general impression to the new SDK 3.0.
Wayne showed us the Yum Cha Dim Sum (Food) app from his team. To me, Dim Sum is so not special. But, once again, iPhone is a global market. There is quite a significant number of people in the Japanese and English speaking community who are interested in Chinese food culture.
In April, we will have our formal meetup. I will announce the details later.

Well, who didn’t watch the live text cast? Guess none of us would answer no!
The iPhone OS 3.0 has been announced. Apple is saying there are 1000 new APIs and 100 new features. So, fellow CocoaHeads, it’s time to learn some new stuff! The great thing is… the new OS is available to us as beta immediately!
With this announcement, I think we can’t not do a meetup about the latest OS in April (if terms allow).

The Feburary meetup held last week is our first meetup in the year of Ox! We have to thank Cesar from bambooapps for sharing with us his personal experience in iPhone data transfer. If you are one of those who are developing a counterpart of your Mac application, you will, for sure, feel the sweets and bitters Cesar highlighted.
Thank everyone for coming. We also need to Thank the Hong Kong University Alumni Association for supporting us in the venue.
See you guys next time in April.
The keynote is available here.

Bonjour, fellow Cocoaheads!
In this meetup, we will discuss iPhone data transfer using Bonjour. Bonjour is Apple’s implementation of zero-configuration networking. It eliminates most network setup hassle by completely removing network setting from users. It is, for sure, the best solution to implement network communication in our iPhone applications.
Cesar from bambooapps will lead the discussion on this topic. Cesar is an indie developer from Spain who is currently staying in Hong Kong. His company’s flagship apps include - FND, FND iPhone and the-very-popular Keep Your Word.
Cesar is in our facebook group as well. Please feel free to meet him there.

Thanks so much for coming to our Dec meetup. We had a wonderful evening!
Special thank to Greg for the User Experience Lesson! Hey, Greg! We all feel your pain!!
This is truly an informative and enjoyable discussion about user interface development. We surely don’t have much chance for this kind of in-depth discussion – from a “lasting” pain to an implemented solution.

Moosh is available here. If anyone of you are interested in testing out some exclusive functions, please leave Greg a message in Anobii. You can email me alternative. I’ll get you two aligned.
Last but not least, thanks Beansbox for sponsoring the snack and drinks! Thanks Ultimate Mac for the venue!
Our next meetup is scheduled on some February Thursday. Please subscribe our RSS or join our facebook. Details will be posted later.
Wish you guys happy holidays and happy new year!!

This is the first CocoaHeads gathering without iPhone NDA!! Let’s interject by doing an iPhone related topic.
Topic: Web service integration with iPhone
Web 2.0 service related iPhone apps constitute a large proportion of the popular iPhone app category – facebook, twitterrific, linked in…
In the gathering, we will discuss how to a few essential components in iPhone OS which allow us to talk to common Web service API. We will try to evaluate a few approaches with code example. The talk will be short. We will have lots of time to discuss the topics, your experience and other random stuff.
We are moving to a new venue – Alumni Lounge. A big thank to the HKU Alumni Association for the venue support. It’s right on top of Cosmos Cafe near LKF. Drinks and wonderful snacks (u’ve gotta try the shrimp toast!!) will be available at a good price too. So, please come, buy a drink and chill
